Instagram: @three15_birminghamThree15 was voted Best Workout in About Town’s 2019 Reader’s Poll. Owner, Mandy Moseley opened the first Three15 Studio in Homewood by Dawson Church a couple of years ago. From its success, she recently opened the second location downtown on 2nd Ave North. Signing up for classes needs to be done in advance due to demand. The classes can fill up very quickly. Classes can be booked online at three15studio.com/classes or on the Three15 app.. Both studios also offer high-end and exclusive workout apparel. Showers and towels for class are provided.
THE WORKOUT BARRE, CYCLE, TONE.
It’s as good as having three gym memberships rolled into one. Enjoy the cardio kick of cycling? It’s here. Crave the burn of a barre class? They have you covered. Want toned arms and core? Yep, THREE15 has that too. In their words, “You can do anything for 15 minutes.” The three class types are divided into 15 intensive minutes (hence the name, Three15), incorporating high intensity yet low impact.
TAKEAWAYS
Music drives the class! The instructors use themed playlists like Rihanna vs. Beyonce and Drake vs. The Weekend. One of my favorite parts was during the cycling portion of class when the instructor got off her bike, turned up the music, turned out the lights, and encouraged us just beyond comfortable and into capable.
FITNESS LEVEL
Fitness levels are intermediate to advanced. CrossFit has complex movements that require individualized coaching in the beginning. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training and that is exactly what you’re going to get at Nexus. Variety and full-body fatigue are the name of the game and once you’ve established the fitness level, you won’t want to leave. If you are a beginner wanting to try a class, call ahead and speak to one of their helpful coaches, and if you’re stopping in, be sure to get there early. The best candidate for Nexus is someone who is not afraid of a challenge and thrives in group settings.
