This year’s Casting Hope was a hybrid event that featured attorney, child advocate, and author, Liz Huntley, as the keynote speaker. Liz shared her own traumatic story of abuse as told in her book, “More Than a Bird”, and shared how caring adults and life-affirming programming similar to On River Time is what changed the trajectory of her life.
Attendees gathered in person in the Ballroom at The Club, as well as virtually online for this hybrid event that included a silent, and live auction, as well as Fund a Need. It was hosted by On River Time founder, Steve Davis and Executive Director, Wendy Garner. Guin Robinson served as the auctioneer. Taylor Hicks’ band performed.
Casting Hope featured many special guests including the reigning Miss Alabama, Lauren Bradford and directors from Palmer Home and Still Creek Ranch, as well as staff and kids from Big Oak Ranch who have attended On River Time camps.
In 2020, Casting Hope, was 100% virtual. In 2019, the event featured Elizabeth Smart as the keynote speaker. Visit onrivertime.org to learn more about On River Time.
