Black Jacket Symphony
Black Jacket Symphony
When COVID-19 brought stay-at-home orders and the closing of entertainment venues in March 2020, concert-goers across the country saw the postponement and cancellation of live music events they planned to attend. Unable to present concerts in traditional settings, the Black Jacket Symphony partnered with the City of Hoover to bring music back to their fans in a series of unique and innovative concert experiences.
On June 19, 2020, groups of friends, families and couples piled into vehicles and pulled into the parking lot of the Finley Center. Cars were spaced apart to allow patrons to set up chairs and enjoy picnics in truck beds as a breathtaking sunset unfurled across the sky.
At 8 p.m., the performers took the stage to present the Beatles' Abbey Road album in its entirety, followed by a selection of the Beatles' greatest hits. The Black Jacket Symphony performs music as true to the original as possible, with musicians matching word for word and sound for sound.
Fans clapped and cheered, but added to the excitement by flashing lights and honking their horns. The crowd even stood out of sunroofs and held up cell phone lights as the band serenaded the night with the beloved "Hey Jude." Check out the band's full lineup of events at theblackjacketsymphony.com.
