We are halfway through one of the largest and most impressive concert years in Birmingham history. We’ve seen some of the nation’s biggest acts come into town, alongside a plethora of the Magic City’s most popular bands. July is only adding to the greatness that has been live concerts in Birmingham in the year 2023. Here are a few that we are most looking forward to.

The Little Raine Band with Rude & True at Avondale Brewing (Friday, July 7th)

Two of the most talented bands in the Magic City are joining forces at one of the Magic City’s most scenic venues for what is bound to be a night of great music and spectacular sunset views. The Little Raine Band and Rude & True at Avondale Brewing on Friday, July 7th, is a can’t miss show for fans of the Birmingham music scene.

Queen City Avenue with Brotha Josh at Little Professor (Friday, July 7th)

‍

The Little Professor’s Pepper Place location is in the midst of their fun Summer Music Series, which highlights local musicians. Two of the city’s finest will be taking the stage on Friday, July 7th, as Queen City Avenue and Brotha Josh join forces to bring pure bliss to the ears of those who attend.

Ramblin’ Ricky Tate at The Nick (Sunday, July 9th)

‍

The Nick has long been a favorite amongst dive bar and local concert enthusiasts in Birmingham, and their free Sunday Funday series has only added to the escalating fervor. Ramblin’ Ricky Tate’s free show on Sunday, July 9th, is a great opportunity to not only witness this fun event but to wish the musician a happy birthday! Another local favorite in Taylor Hollingsworth also returns to play the free Sunday Funday series on July 23rd.

Crown the Empire with Varials at Zydeco (Wednesday, July 12th)

Crown the Empire is ready to rock one of Birmingham’s best venues for a mosh pit. The genre-blending band leans towards metalcore in sound, which is sure to make for a loud and fun show at Zydeco on Wednesday, July 12th. Varials will be opening for even more entertainment.

Morgan Wade with Joshua Ray Walker at Iron City (Friday, July 14th)

Morgan Wade is one of country music’s fastest rising stars. The Appalachia native has been mesmerizing listeners all the way to the top of the charts, and is sure to bring a stellar show to Iron City’s famously air conditioned venue on Friday, July 14th. Joshua Ray Walker will be opening the concert.

Erykah Badu with yasiin bey at The BJCC Legacy Arena (Wednesday, July 19th)

The BJCC’s Legacy Arena is the place to be on Wednesday, July 19th, as two of the most talented and creative voices in American music history come to town. Erykah Badu has been wowing listeners for decades now with a soulfully unique voice that’s spoken many relatable truths. She will be joined by the legendary hip-hop heavyweight yasiin bey for an unforgettable evening.

Emo Nite at Iron City (Friday, July 21st)

Emo Nites have rapidly become one of the Magic City’s most fun events. The next edition takes place at Iron City on Friday, July 21st, with a dollar from each ticket benefitting the Living The Dream Foundation. Get your angsty outfits ready and get ready to belt out your favorite emo tunes with hundreds of like-minded music lovers!

Young the Giant with Milky Chance and Rosa Linn at Avondale Brewing (Tuesday, July 25th)

Three incredible live acts will be taking the Avondale Brewing stage on Tuesday, July 25th. Young the Giant wowed the city last time they came through town, and are sure to bring an even more stellar show alongside Milky Chance and Rosa Linn. This is going to be a fun mid-week concert experience towards the end of the month.

Jackson Browne at the Alabama Theatre (Wednesday, July 26th)

One of the all-time greatest singer-songwriters is coming to a historic beauty in the Alabama Theatre on Wednesday, July 26th. The unforgettable Jackson Browne comes into town to guarantee Birmingham residents have great concerts to witness as we close out the month of July.

Mason Music Fest at Avondale Brewing (Saturday, July 29th)

‍

Mason Music is already one of the easiest nonprofits to support in Birmingham thanks to all the inspirational work they do with the community around them. It becomes even easier to support now that the organization hosts one of the best annual music festivals in the Magic City. This year’s day-long concert takes place on Saturday, July 29th, and features Futurebirds (one of this author’s favorite bands!), Colony House, Carver Commodore, The Secret Sisters, and Annie DiRusso.
