March is officially here! The weather is already warmer (although there’s rumors of another freeze or two on the way) and the concert calendar in the Magic City is looking more full than ever. That’s right - we are approaching peak show season. There are a lot of great concert options to choose from this month. Here are a few of our favorites.
Wilder Adkins with Rude & True and Timber at Saturn (Wednesday, March 1st)
What better way to start March off than with three of Alabama’s finest bands? Wilder Adkins will be taking the stage at Saturn on Wednesday, March 1st, along with Rude & True and Timber (which features two of our favorite Bham-based musicians in Janet Simpson and Will Stewart). It’s safe to say this is going to be a great show.
Dawes at Iron City (Thursday, March 2nd)
“Things happen, that’s all they ever do.” The thing happening this Thursday, March 2nd, is the great band behind those lyrics playing at Iron City’s famously air-conditioned venue! Dawes is a Birmingham favorite and always puts on a fantastic show. If you’ve never seen them you’ll want to be there. If you have seen them you probably already have your ticket for this go-around!
David Ramirez and Dylan LeBlanc at The Upstairs at Avondale (Saturday, March 11th)
David Ramirez and Dylan LeBlanc are two of the finest songwriters of our time, and both always show love to the Magic City while on tour. It’ll be a real treat to get to see both great musicians at The Upstairs at Avondale on Saturday, March 11th.
La Calle 205 Presents Sigue Bailando at Zydeco (Saturday, March 11th)
When it comes to dance parties in the Magic City, you have to turn to La Calle 205. The collective has been bringing consistently massive music celebrations to Birmingham and will be continuing the pattern at Zydeco on Saturday, March 11th, as Johny Mezcla, DJ Nemo, and Xllest Ricky all take the stage.

Papadosio at Saturn (Thursday, March 16th)
Papadosio is a top band to see play live. Birminghamians have the opportunity to partake in this thrilling experience on Thursday, March 16th. The band will be playing at Saturn, with an acoustic set from Toubab Krewe to start things off.
An Evening with They Might Be Giants at Iron City (Tuesday, March 21st)
They Might Be Giants have been putting out great tunes for decades now. Tunes that have shaped this city’s music scene. I’ve heard it myself as the father-son duo behind The Mighty Jarkobian and His Conglomerate of Sound (Phrasure and Tim Frazier of Qualifier) shared how the band inspired them. Tuesday, March 21st, is going to be a wonderful night of beautiful music, and you should be there.
Drive-By Truckers at Iron City (Sunday, March 26th)
The Drive-By Truckers are the top band to best represent the modern voice of the South for many around Birmingham, which will make the group’s show at Iron City on Sunday, March 26th, an incredible moment to take in. We imagine this will be a sell-out show.
Iron & Wine with special guest Anna Mieke at The Lyric (Sunday, March 26th)
What better way to spend a Sunday than by taking in the sweet and somber songs of Iron & Wine, along with Anna Mieke, at a historic theater? Magic City residents have the perfect opportunity to do so on March 26th at The Lyric.
Parachute Show: TWEN, Ferocious Bubbles and Sick F*cks at Saturn (Sunday, March 26th)
As this list has made clear - March 26th is a beautifully busy day for music in the Magic City. What previous lists have made clear is that the free Parachute Show series at Saturn is consistently impressing with their lineups. Both these truths come together as Twen, Ferocious Bubbles, and sick f*cks all play a Parachute Show on the 26th.
Model Citizen LP Release Party with Eleganza at The Nick (Tuesday, March 28th)
Model Citizen has made quite the triumphant return - and it’s only just beginning. The band will be celebrating the release of their new LP with a show at The Nick on Tuesday, March 28th! Eleganza will be joining to make the night even more spectacular.
