The Arc of Central Alabama hosted its 6th annual BeYOUtiful BHM Fashion Show on the evening of Friday, April 22, 2022, at The Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook. BeYOUtiful BHM is an empowering fashion show and silent auction featuring models with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As a community, we come together to affirm that they are beautiful exactly as they are, while they help us change our perception of beauty, one model at a time.
BeYOUtiful benefits our Early Intervention HOPE Program (Helping Others Through Parent Education), which has been proven to make a significant difference for infants and toddlers who present developmental delays. Through The Arc’s HOPE Program, service coordinators create plans tailored specifically to each child. Therapists and providers come into the child’s home or natural setting to train family members and other caretakers. As development progresses, plans of care are adjusted to accommodate changing abilities and preferences. This one-on-one support not only benefits the child’s progression but also enables family and other natural supports to be as helpful as possible in the process. Services are provided regardless of income level.
The Arc of Central Alabama is a 501(c)3 organization that serves over 800 people with IDD each year. Our programs benefit these individuals across lifetimes and enable each person to live their most independent life possible. But we can't do this without support from community partners and friends like you!
In recent years, we have raised over $60,000 to support the Arc's programs and the wonderful people we serve.
