The Junior League of Birmingham’s annual 1000 family garage sale, Bargain Carousel, sponsored by Baptist Health Foundation, kicked off with a preview party, Bargain Bash, on April 25. Bargain Bash was sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities and gave shoppers their best opportunity to shop the greatest selection of merchandise as well as special auction items. Music was provided by DJ Birmingham and food and beverages were provided by a variety of local restaurants, including MidiCi, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Texas Roadhouse, Taco Mama, Otey's, Jim 'N Nick's, Melt, Good People Brewing Company, and Tito's Handmade Vodka. This year’s event featured more than 100,000 items donated by Junior League of Birmingham members and local businesses across the Birmingham metro area including appliances, furniture, heirloom items, baby and children’s clothing and furnishings, art, kitchen items, home décor, outdoors and sporting goods. Bargain Carousel provides the local community with the opportunity to purchase quality items, including many of life’s necessities, with the added benefit of raising money to fund Junior League of Birmingham programs. This is not your typical garage sale! All proceeds from Bargain Carousel benefit the 38 community projects that the Junior League of Birmingham supports, including initiatives related to domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, juvenile crime and more.
