A Legacy of Service
Founded by former University of Alabama football player Darryl Fuhrman, Lettermen of the USA was established following the devastating 2011 tornado that struck Tuscaloosa. What began as a charitable Iron Bowl Flag Football event that raised more than $150,000 for the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund has grown into a national nonprofit organization dedicated to serving veterans, disaster victims, and former college athletes in need.
“Helping veterans continue to move forward in life is at the heart of everything we do,” said Fuhrman. “This event provides an opportunity for our community to come together, have fun, and make a meaningful difference for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
Looking Ahead
Lettermen of the USA will also host its 8th Annual One Yard at a Time Gala on Thursday, February 25, 2027, at The Club. Guests will have the opportunity to meet military heroes, former college and professional football players, and coaches while helping raise critical funds for veterans in need through a silent and live auction.
