Tommy and Rebecca decided to cut some length off for the spring to maintain a shorter look with keeping a lot of texture through the crown area to maintain volume. The actual cut is called a “LOB” (long bob). To style her hair, he used all Bumble & Bumble products. He started with Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer to smooth frizz and protect from heat on wet hair along with Surf Foam Spray to add texture and volume to the blowout. He then curled her hair to create loose waves and finished with Save The Day to smooth her ends for a polished but textured finish.

***Kista Hamilton*** Answers Your Questions• *Is it better for my hair if I alternate my product brands?*Alternating brands is not necessary for your hair’s health, but keep in mind that product companies are constantly researching and improving products. It is always fun to try something new!• *Is using dry shampoo several times a week bad for my hair?*As long as you are shampooing your hair and scalp with real shampoo 1-2 times per week, you should be just fine. If your hair becomes dry or your scalp is itchy then it is time for a real shampoo.• *What are the differences between higher-end drugstore products like Aveeno, and the salon-only products?*Salon only products are made with better quality ingredients and the client in mind. When you use the products suggested to you by your stylist, who is familiar with your hair, you should have a better experience recreating the look you are after at home.• *What are some color trends you’re looking to this Spring?*We are still seeing a lot of balayage and hand painted highlights on the forecast for spring. At Owens Hudson Salon, we have had the opportunity to bring in Aveda’s new color line and we are getting some beautiful results with it.• *Do you advise your clients on their make-up palette when you alter their color?*If we are doing a tone change I do try to incorporate some talk about changing lip color. There can also be a need for adjusting eye makeup if you’ve cut fringe or some face framing layers.
