Birmingham Race Course Casino had two lucky winners hit it big during the week of February 21, 2021. One lucky patron won a progressive jackpot totaling close to half a million dollars, $459,182, and another patron won over $162,000, also a progressive jackpot, just a few days later.
“We are beyond thrilled to pay out over half a million dollars this past week from our casino floor,” said Monty Ballard, Vice President of Style Advertising. “We look forward to celebrating more winners daily and hope the public recognizes that you can win big here at Birmingham Race Course Casino.”
Located off I-459 at Exit 31 Derby Parkway, the race course’s casino floor opened in 2020 with 800 new casino-style gaming historical horse racing machines (HHRM). An HHRM is a gaming system that allows players to bet on replays of horse races that have already run. Throughout the casino floor, Birmingham Race Course Casino has multiple progressive jackpot-building machines, which means the chances of hitting a six-figure jackpot increase considerably.
The race course originally opened in the 1980s and was purchased by Milton McGregor in 1990. At the time, it was the country’s only combined thoroughbred race course and greyhound race track. Today, it features simulcast horse and dog racing from the top tracks all over the country 52 weeks a year. It also offers casino-style gaming and parlay game contests on seasonal basketball, baseball, football and hockey.
