It’s another great week for events in the Magic City. Music, food, fun competition, and more are all coming together in one city to ensure that the people are well taken care of in regard to entertainment. Some of our favorite annual traditions return, and some new favorites join the scene as well. Here are a few of the things we are looking forward to this week in Birmingham.

Producer Showcase (Wednesday)

While the Little London has sadly shut its doors, the Producer Showcases that called the pub home have made their way to The Upstairs at Avondale. The first showcase on 41st Street takes place this Wednesday and features 5 of the Magic City’s best musicians and three visual artists (including KB who we’ve featured). Luke Crowder returns as host for this great event.

Greek Food Festival (Thursday to Saturday)

The 49th Annual Greek Food Festival makes its arrival this Thursday and will be bringing the very finest in homemade souvlakia, Greek chicken, spanokopeta, dolmathes, veggie plates, gyros, Greek salad, pistachio, and more. This free event is one of the most anticipated in Birmingham, and has a drive-through for those who can’t stay for all the fun festivities.

Pelicans Vs. Hawks Pre-Season Game (Friday)

The NBA in the Magic City is a dream come true for basketball lovers in the area. We get to see those dreams become reality this Friday at the Legacy Arena as the Atlanta Hawks take on the New Orleans Pelicans (the parent team to our Birmingham Squadron). It’ll be a great start to the weekend to see some NBA stars and rising prospects on the court.

Tall Bike Joust X (Saturday)

Bike jousting has become an annual thing in Birmingham thanks to the fun people at Redemptive. This image and cover image from Redemptive Cycles

The tenth edition of the annual Tall Bike Joust tournament from Redemptive Cycles is taking place this Saturday at Cahaba Brewing, and promises to bring the fun that Birminghamians have come to expect at one of the city’s most unique events. 16 jousters will ride some of the tallest bicycles you’ve ever seen in your life to compete for jousting glory.

Birmingham Punk Rock Flea Market (Sunday)

One of the most fun events is making its way back to the Magic City this Sunday. The Birmingham Punk Rock Flea Market will be opening up shop at Cahaba with dozens of fantastic vendors joining drag performers and a great music lineup to ensure a fun day is had by all. The event is free, with a $5 suggested donation to benefit the Firehouse Community Center.
