A classic winter drink, mulled wine is perfect for cold weather. Combine a bottle of red wine, ¼ cup brandy, 3 tbsp sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and orange slices in a saucepan. Simmer for 15 minutes (do not boil). Serve warm, garnished with an orange wheel and a cinnamon stick.
2. Hot Buttered Rum
In a mug, mix 2 oz dark rum, 1 tbsp butter, 1 tsp brown sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Top with hot water and stir until smooth. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for a rich treat.
3. Peppermint White Russian
Put a fun twist on the classic White Russian. In a shaker, combine 2 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, and 1 oz peppermint schnapps. Shake well and pour over ice in a rocks glass. Top with a splash of cream.
4. Cranberry Gin Fizz
Bright and tangy, this cocktail adds a pop of interest to a winter evening. Shake 2 oz gin, 1 oz cranberry juice, ½ oz lemon juice, and ½ oz simple syrup with ice. Strain into a glass and top with soda water. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and fresh cranberries.
