“Opening Night: Hollywood” launched the Alabama Symphony Orchestra’s 2026-27 season at the Alys Stephens Center September 25, drawing a crowd of more than 500 for the ASO’s biggest annual fundraiser.
Hosts Karen and Phil Carroll, along with Philanthropy Chairs Lindsey and John Lacey and Courtney and Bryson Stephens, welcomed guests to the opening reception featuring hors d’oeuvres designed by Chef Frank Stitt and Pardis Stitt and executed by Tre Luna.
Guests filled the concert hall for a program of cinema classics highlighted by a stunning Star Wars encore featuring a string section with bows fitted to illuminate like light sabers. A festive afterparty followed, with dancing and refreshments. The benefit generated more than $725,000, to support everything from free education and outreach programs to classical Masterworks Concerts, a successful night by any measure!
